Greenstart unveils latest clean-tech startups

This article talks about the technology available to help reduce the amount of electricity in the forms of monitoring, plugs, shades, and more. SmarterShade, which helps reduce the amount of lights to use by tinting the color of the windows, is a great idea. Sylvatex's biodeasle from biomass seems like it would help reduce oil prices, which are rising. These inventions play a role on the issue of energy conservation. Conserving natural resources has been a big goal for the past several years.
These ideas relate to the relationship between people and machines. By relying on the machines to reduce the amount of electricity used, it makes a person more reliant on technology. The idea behind this is to reduce energy consumption, therefore reducing energy bills.

I think that the ideas behind this is great. If the technology was widely used, it's initial cost would be big, but it would definitely be a pay-off in the end

Did You Know? Questions

  1. What 3 things surprise you?
The popularity of various site that have more activity than news sources.
Michael Jackson's death became more popular on Twitter than elections.
95% of American adults have cell phones.
  1. What questions come to your mind?
How will the number change in 10 years? Will printed media still be printing? How reliant will we be on technology in several years. How much can we rely on technology?
  1. What do you think the world will be like 5 years from now? 10? 20?
I think that it will be much more connected. Widespread use of media like the internet and cell phone will be available practically all the time. Computers, cell phones, and other media could get smaller, faster, and be more immersive in the sense that we wouldn't be able to stay away from technology.

  1. What kind of effects do you think that this will have on people?
It will make them more "social." The world will be even smaller to us when the use of communication is widespread across everyone. Although the use of technology is increasing everyday, we will only get more and more addicted to it.
